Schramm Post Office, named in honor of fallen Marine and Greece native, Lance Corporal Brian Schramm.

A lifelong resident of the town of Greece, Lance Corporal Brian K. Schramm bravely served in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. On October 15, 2004, Lance Corporal Schramm was killed in action at the age of 22 during an enemy shrapnel attack in Bail Province, Iraq.

“Lance Corporal Schramm gave his life in serving our country,” said Supervisor Auberger.  “Brian is an inspiration to our entire community.  Honoring his memory by naming this facility after his is a fitting tribute to his legacy.”

“This is great news for the Town,” said Supervisor John Auberger. “The project will create 150 construction jobs and 400 permanent jobs in our town.”

The Town started joint Planning and Zoning Board meetings on this project in April of 2007. After multiple hearings the Town process concluded and approval was granted in September of 2007.

“The process we undertook was through, open and fair. We had no doubt that the courts would uphold our approval,” added Supervisor Auberger. “This re-development enjoys widespread public support and will be a catalyst for the entire Dewey Avenue Corridor.”
