On Saturday August 29, 2009, Greece Supervisor John Auberger attended the ceremony renaming the Latta Road Post Office. It is now called the Brian K. Schramm Post Office, named in honor of fallen Marine and Greece native, Lance Corporal Brian Schramm.
A lifelong resident of the town of Greece, Lance Corporal Brian K. Schramm bravely served in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. On October 15, 2004, Lance Corporal Schramm was killed in action at the age of 22 during an enemy shrapnel attack in Bail Province, Iraq.
“Lance Corporal Schramm gave his life in serving our country,” said Supervisor Auberger. “Brian is an inspiration to our entire community. Honoring his memory by naming this facility after his is a fitting tribute to his legacy.”
